As many of you are aware the West facing pontoon is in a bit of a state. There has been some vandalism to a section of the board. At the same time the float at the end, although sound, is not really steady enough for Sailability, wheelchairs and helpers. So we are going to run a test with an extra floatation tank under the end of this pontoon and replace the decking, to see if this improves the situation. Assuming this is all good, we will strip the decking of the rest of this pontoon and make good the North facing pontoon, using the best of the planks and frame. Then reframe and re-deck the west pontoon with wood. The reason for only choosing wood is there are plans to raise funds to replace the pontoon completely in the mid to long term.
So it would be good in the next month to get a work group together to help strip both pontoons ready for the work to commence. We aim to remove all the fittings, tyre and crews and nails from both pontoons. Please let me know if you are able and willing to be part of this team.
